PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper excellent in air permeability with no risk of generating positional displacement during wearing. SOLUTION: At least one waist area 13 of front and back waist areas 13, 14 is extensible and the waist area 13 is divided to the first expansible area 13A extending in a lateral direction X in a waist opening fringe part and the second expansible area 13B extending in the lateral direction X between the first expansible area 13A and the inside end fringe of the one waist area 13. A waist elastic element 24 is arranged in the second expansible area 13B, whereby the second expansible area 13B has elongational stress higher than the first expansible area 13A. A plurality of ventilation paths 25 extending in a longitudinal direction Y are formed in the waist area 13 and the ventilation path 25 in the second expansible area 13B is narrower in width than the first expansible area 13A.
