PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of constructing a piping installation, allowing a water leakage inspection even after heat insulating material is wound around. SOLUTION: In the method of constructing the piping installation, a plurality of pipes 31, 32 are connected to form a flow path for flow of fluid and at least a connection of the pipes 31, 32 is covered with the heat insulating material. The method includes: using a water leakage detection ribbon 4 formed of a band-shaped member having a fluid permeable characteristic and markings made with ink material which visually varies when contacting with the fluid; and installing the water leakage detection ribbon 4 at the connection of the pipes so that a part of the water leakage detection ribbon 4 is arranged on the connection and another part of the water leakage detection ribbon 4 with the markings made thereon is separated from the pipes 31, 32.
