<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver and control method thereof, for performing control to vary a user designated area while following up variation of a reference area, with a designated area from a broadcast station as the reference area, during viewing in the user designated area. <P>SOLUTION: The receiver includes: a receiving means 102 for receiving contents of an SHV size and a viewing area control means 105 for selecting and determining a position and a size of a part of display contents.
