PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically determine whether slide-show display is continued, based on a feature of an image in executing the slide-show display. SOLUTION: This display device is equipped with: a leading image generation part for generating a leading image having a region for displaying a representative image representing an image group, and displayed immediately before displaying a corresponding image group in slide-show display; a similarity determination part for determining the similarity of the representative images respectively possessed by two leading images in which display orders of the leading images in the slide-show display are adjacent to each other; and a control part for making control to display the leading image corresponding to each image group immediately before each image group and continuously display the respective image groups in the generation order. The leading image generation part generates a masked leading image with a mask treatment applied to the representative image to be displayed later in the slide-show display when the similarity of the two representative images determined by the similarity determination part does not reach a predetermined criterion, and the control part suspends the slide show while the masked leading image is displayed in executing the slide-show display.
