PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection device, capable of accurately detecting individual objects from an image obtained by photographing while suppressing the processing load. SOLUTION: Binarization processing is performed with a pixel value range (128-255) being set in a search object image that is a multivalue image (a) as "1" and others as "0". In a binary image (b), with respect to an extraction object image having the value of "1", the number of neighborhood pixels having pixel values smaller than the pixel value of the object pixel is less than a predetermined threshold, the value of the object pixel is set to "0" and excluded from the extraction object. A pixel determined to be a boundary part of a plurality of objects is excluded from the extraction object, whereby a contour can be accurately determined. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
