<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device, video output device and video system each including a user-interface which has high user friendliness for menu operation and is capable of suppressing erroneous operation, and to provide a menu-screen-display control method. <P>SOLUTION: It is determined which one of a video display device 10 and video output devices 20X, 20Y connected thereto is a target of a menu screen being displayed on the video display device 10, and any other device out of the device determined as a target of the menu screen being displayed is set to a menu operation prohibited state.
