PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having run-flat durability improved without impairing rolling resistance and ride comfort during the normal running. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire is equipped with: a radial carcass, a tread part, buttress parts, sidewall parts, and a pair of side reinforcement rubber layers 7 of a crescent shape in cross section, which are disposed on the inner side of the radial carcass 3 extending from the pair of buttress parts 5 positioned at both ends of the tread part 4 to the sidewall parts 6. A reinforcement cord layer 8 formed by coating a cord containing PEN fibers formed by twisting a plurality of polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) filament bundles with a coating rubber is disposed in at least parts of an area A from the end of a belt to the maximum width parts of the tire side parts and in an area B from near the bead core to a bead filler.
