PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a droplet discharge apparatus which prevents temperature increase of a discharge head and saves the consumption amount of a functional liquid and a method of cooling a droplet discharge head. SOLUTION: The droplet discharge apparatus is provided with a discharge head 2 for discharging droplets of a functional liquid from respective nozzles of a nozzle plane 21a in which a plurality of nozzles are installed and a wiping part 70 for wiping the nozzle plane 21a, and the wiping part 70 has a wiping material 71 formed by holding a powder of an inorganic material on a sheet.
