In a method for decomposing partially fluorinated and perfluorinated surfactants, which in particular are contained in effluents, sewage sludges and the like, the surfactant is present in solution or suspension and is broken down electrolytically. Preferably, anodic oxidation of the surfactants takes place here. The method is suited in particular for decomposing perfluorinated alkyl sulfonates, in particular PFOS. The invention also describes an apparatus for the electrolytic decomposition of partially fluorinated and perfluorinated surfactants. |
