PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent subject blurring by determining suitable photography conditions such as shutter speed and others corresponding to each moving subject so as to stop the motion of the subject. SOLUTION: Capturing of images of a plurality of subjects for speed calculation is started with a high-speed shutter and a high-resolution (full-pixel movie shooting is also allowed) in S2 in response to half pressing of a release button 46. A moving amount (subject speed v) of a subject on an imaging element 16 per unit time is calculated in S4 on the basis of the images of the plurality of subjects for speed calculation stored in an image data storage section 66 and photographing intervals of these images. If a subject is registered in a specific subject registration section 30, a specific subject extraction section 31 specifies the registered subject from each of the images of the subjects for speed calculation to calculate the subject speed v of the specified subject.
