<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new bacterial strain capable of inhibiting the wide range of vegetable diseases in vivo caused by fungi, and a fungicidal composition containing an antibiotic material, and the purified and unpurified fractions of the strain. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This new antibiotic material-producing Bacillus sp. exhibiting an antifungal activity only to a specific plant pathogen and without exhibiting an antibacterial activity, and a biologically pure cultured material of the strain, having all of the characteristics for identifying the above strain are provided. Also, the method for treating the fungal infection of plants, fruits and roots or protecting from the fungal infection by using the effective amounts of the above strains, supernatant produced by the strains or metabolites isolated from the strains is provided.
