PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust core attaining strength and insulation and the density of the dust core, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The dust core includes soft magnetic powder having an insulating film surrounding metal magnetic particles on the surface of the powder and a low-melting glass layer on the surface of the insulating film, at least a part of the insulating film liquefied by annealing and then solidified. The method of manufacturing the dust core includes steps for: forming an insulating film surrounding metal magnetic particles on the surface of the soft magnetic powder and forming a layer containing a low-melting glass component on the surface of the insulating film; compression-shaping the soft magnetic powder where the insulating film and the layer containing the low-melting glass component are formed; annealing the shaped body of the soft magnetic powder which is thus obtained; forming a low-melting glass layer from the layer containing the low-melting glass component; and liquefying at least a part of the insulating film.
