PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating device and an image recording apparatus which can suppress a rush current when a heating element is energized with a three-phase alternating current. SOLUTION: The heating device controls relay switches 80a-80c so that the heating elements 74a and 74b are energized while being connected in parallel to a three-phase AC power supply 75 when a preliminarily set time passes after controlling the relay switches 80a-80c so that the heating elements 74a and 74b are energized while being connected in series to the three-phase AC power supply 75 if an IR heater 74 is energized with the three-phase alternating current.
