The present disclosure provides an open architecture communication system for patient monitoring devices and other patient care equipment. The open architecture of the present system allows devices running different operating systems and software to communicate correctly and efficiently with the care center network. One aspect of the system includes a patient monitoring virtual machine which allows patient monitoring devices and other patient care equipment to allow for communications with other devices on the network or other networks and automatic configuration of devices. Aspects of the system also provide for relocation of post-processing functions, arrangement of devices into domains, and/or management of devices using servers and other management systems. |
