The device has a console (2) fastened to a tail of a tractor. The console has rocker arms (5, 5'), which are moved between an unlocking position and a locking position. A coupling plate is pulled at the console by adjusting the rocker arms from the unlocking position into the locking position and by cooperation of the rocker arms with a locking surface. A coupling element (17) is transferred into a coupling position for coupling with another coupling element by the coupling plate, where the latter coupling element is arranged at a propeller shaft.
