<p>Galvanizing residues are heated on the sloping hearth of a reverberatory furnace (see Group XII), at a temperature of approximately 500 DEG C in a neutral or reducing atmosphere and puddled by a tool inserted through the furnace door. Metal containing 97 per cent or more of zinc collects in a container below the furnace door leaving a residue of commercial zinc oxide containing 85-90 per cent zinc oxide and 10-15 per cent metallic zinc.</p> |
