Heat exchanger, especially an oil cooler, comprises dish-shaped heat transfer plates (1) stacked on top of each other and forming alternate channels for the coolant and the oil, and a combined base/fixing plate (3) with fixing openings (5). The heat transfer plates and the combined base/fixing plate have openings (4, 6) for the oil and coolant. The base/fixing plate is soldered to the stack of heat transfer plates. Recesses for seals (2) provided on the side of the combined base/fixing plate facing away from the heat exchanger extend at least around the openings.
