PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting line position using an optical detecting device is provided to detect the position of an object by using a 1X2 or 2X2 photo cell. CONSTITUTION: A line position detector(100) sets a multi-cell in a line position sensing area. A line position detector sense the position of a line marked on a target. An amplifier(200) amplifies an analog detection signal. The analog detection signal is inputted from a plurality of cell of the line position detector. A microcontroller includes an A/D converter. The microcontroller determines the width of the line. The microcontroller produces the subtraction and sum of digital line detection signal. A digital-to-analog converter(400) changes the digital detection signal into the analog detection signal.
