<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of realizing the reduction of cost by reducing the number of signal lines and the detection ports of a detection part for detecting whether or not respective units, that is, an optional unit such as a paper feeding device or a post-processing device, a developing unit and a photoreceptor unit are attached, and eliminating an electronic member for discriminating the unit provided needlessly. <P>SOLUTION: The attaching state of the unit attached to an apparatus body 1 is decided with a part of exceptions, that is, excepting the attaching state obtained when at least either of two units OP2 and OP2' selectively attached to the apparatus body 1 is singly attached to the apparatus body 1 on the basis of voltage applied to an individual resistance member R<SB>1</SB>and/or a common resistance member R<SB>2</SB>by the attachment of the unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
