<p>A method of modifying a vehicle gearbox includes the steps of preparing an existing gearbox (1) of the type operated by a shift lever and H-gate, substituting the existing primary and secondary shafts of the gearbox with a replacement primary shaft (3) and a replacement secondary shaft (4), substituting the existing selector rods and forks with replacement rods and forks (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) allowing the selection of different speed ratios between the replacement primary shaft (3) and the replacement secondary shaft (4), preparing an actuator (19) by which the replacement selector rods and forks (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) are operated sequentially, and mounting the actuator (19) to the outside of the gearbox. The sequential actuator (19) is attached directly to the housing (2), bolted to an external mounting surface occupied previously by the shift lever and H-gate assembly.</p> |
