A case having one or more walls that form a pocket for a telephonic device with a microphone. The pocket has an opening defined by a rim adapted to extend at least around the mouth of a user to hide it from view. A resilient sealing element is carried by the rim and has a flexible or compressible structure that is sufficiently deformable when pressed against the user's face to conform substantially to its contour and form a sound seal therewith that muffles and blocks beyond the case words spoken into the microphone. The rim may include an ear portion for placement over a human ear to reduce interfering external noise.
