ELEVATOR DEVICE AND METHOD OF INSPECTING SAME

An elevator device wherein the operation of an elevator car is controlled by an operation control section. An abnormal state of an object to be monitored, said abnormal state being that which occurs during the travel of the car, is detected by a safety monitoring section to block the travel of the car. The function of the safety monitoring section is inspected by a safety-monitoring-function inspecting section. During the travel of the car by means of the control by the operation control section, independent of the actual state of the object to be monitored, the safety-monitoring-function inspecting section causes the safety monitoring section to detect that the object to be monitored has changed to an abnormal state.
