<p>A video image is processed (501, 502, 509. 51) to determine an edge strength in a region associated with each image pixel to be processed. For large edge strengths, the pixel is filtered by an edge-preserving filter, such as an epsilon filter (504). For very large edge strengths, no edge-preserving filtering is applied. For small edge strengths, the edge-preserving filtering is replaced by a smoothing filter (505, 506).</p> |
