A process for the preparation of 2,3-dimethylbutadiene involves heating of 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-butandiol to melting temperature, dehydrating thereof at atmospheric pressure in the presence of activatedγ- AlOas catalyst, condensation of reaction products and separation of 2,3-dimethylbutadiene by sublimation. 2,3-Dimethyl-2,3-butandiol is used as hexahydrate. |
