<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for prompting a user to view a liquid crystal television with proper luminance. <P>SOLUTION: After a liquid crystal television 20 is purchased and installed in a house, when power is supplied first to the liquid crystal television, information for prompting luminance adjustment, a telop 21, for instance, is displayed on a screen. A viewer sets desired luminance by remote control scanning according to the instruction of the telop 21. The information for prompting the luminance adjustment is displayed only when the power is supplied first after the liquid crystal television 20 is installed, the viewer is not required to perform the operation again and again.
