PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently seal a near infrared ray cutting filter glass to a solid-state image pickup element package by using an ultraviolet ray curing type adhesive. SOLUTION: The near infrared ray cutting filter glass has a plate shape, is made of CuO-containing fluoro-phosphate glass or CuO-containing phosphate glass and has an optical effective section for transmitting light and a peripheral section which adjoins an outer periphery of the optical effective section. Ultraviolet ray transmittance of the peripheral section is higher than that of the optical effective section. When the near infrared ray cutting filter glass is sealed to the solid-state image pickup element package by using the ultraviolet ray curing type adhesive, the near infrared ray cutting filter glass can be rapidly applied to the package and thereby a solid-state image pickup element device can be efficiently assembled.
