PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve communication quality by changing a radiating pattern and to provide an optimum radiating pattern for a base station under communication or a broadcasting station under broadcast reception. SOLUTION: An antenna includes one or more antenna elements (4) and one or more grounding conductor parts (6, 61, 62, 63, 64) which are provided together with the antenna elements, and through which an image current flows. The radiating pattern is switched by the image current flowing to the single grounding conductor part or the image current flowing to the grounding conductor part selected from the plurality of grounding conductor parts.
