<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reinforcing an existing structure, which facilitates construction by facilitating the operation of integration of additional and existing sections and dispensing with a reinforcement arrangement operation, and which can increase the shear strength and rigidity of the reinforcing target section of the existing structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this method for reinforcing the existing structure, the reinforcing target section is reinforced by integrating the reinforcing target section of the existing structure 2 and a reinforcing plate together. A fiber concrete plate 3, the compressive strength of which is 150 N/mm<SP>2</SP>or more, the bending strength of which is 20 N/mm<SP>2</SP>or more and the tensile strength of which is 8 N/mm<SP>2</SP>or more, is used as the reinforcing plate.
