<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately adjust the tension state of a guide belt, concerning a belt type paper guiding device provided at the paper discharging portion of a double-sided printer and a belt tension adjusting method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The belt type paper guiding device includes an endless guide belt 41 wound around a plurality of guide rolls and traveling at the same speed as a printed sheet to protect the lower surface of the printed sheet, a guide area changing roll 44 chancing the paper guide area 41a of the guide belt, a movable tension adjusting roll 47 adjusting the tension state of the guide belt, and tension adjusting mechanisms 60 respectively provided on bearing portions at both ends of the tension adjusting roll to move the tension adjusting roll. The tension adjusting mechanisms at both ends respectively include spring members 68 energizing the supporting members 61 of the bearing portions of the tension adjusting roll in a moving direction, and fixing portions 61a fixing the supporting members 61. One of the tension adjusting mechanisms is provided with an expanding/contracting adjusting member 65 expanding/contracting the supporting member to finely adjust the position of the bearing portion.
