PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix display device capable of compensating a leakage current while maintaining the aperture rate. SOLUTION: The active matrix display device (10) has a plurality of pixels (30) arranged in a matrix. Each of the pixels (30) includes a liquid crystal display element, a driving control switch for controlling the driving of the liquid crystal display element, and a storage capacitor for storing image data provided to the liquid crystal display element via the driving control switch. Furthermore, the display device (10) has a voltage-compensating means (26) for applying a specified voltage to a terminal opposite to a terminal coupled to the liquid crystal display element in a maintaining period when the storage capacitor holds image data, so as to compensate a leakage current to a source line (12) via the driving control switch.
