The system has electronic components connected with electronic assemblies by data lines, where a storage identification feature is set during installation of the electronic assemblies and adjusted during each installation change. Features such as time of installation of the electronic assemblies, speed of a vehicle or number of motor starts of the vehicle in a given period is selected as the storage identification feature. The electronic assemblies communicate with a power supply device/motor control device (3) of a vehicle via a communication unit (2). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a safety system.
