<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine device having an electric motor for engine starting, capable of promptly restarting an engine after idling stop and being also used as a generator. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An engine device drive shaft 100 includes a liquid fuel engine 10, and an electric motor 1 arranged in the vicinity of the liquid fuel engine 10 used for starting the liquid fuel engine. The electric motor 1 is a switched reluctance motor 1 having a stator 2 having a plurality of windings, and a rotating shaft 4 rotatably supported by a first and second brackets (5, 6), and provided with a rotatably arranged with respect to the stator. The rotating shaft 4 provided in the switched reluctance motor 1 protrudes from the first bracket 5 to the outside, and is provided with a first output unit connected to a drive shaft 11 provided in the liquid fuel engine 10.
