<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply apparatus wherein load and circuit efficiency are made compatible. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The power supply apparatus 100 includes an AC/DC circuit 5, a DC/DC converter 1, a detection circuit 2, a digital IC 101, and a gate driver 106, and the like. A control formula used for phase compensation for each of multiple drive frequencies is stored in a memory 104 of the digital IC 101. The power supply apparatus 100 can quickly obtain a target voltage, by performing a driving operation with a drive signal having a higher drive frequency at activation. In addition, the power supply apparatus can enhance the circuit efficiency by switching over from the drive signal having a higher drive frequency to a drivd signal having a lower drive frequency, upon having reached the target voltage.
