PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a window opening and closing device which can adjust the open/close width of an opening to a desired width by a sliding paper door based on an air flow and can operationally switch between the opening and closing of the opening by the sliding paper door based on the air flow and the forcible closing of the opening by holding a position of the sliding paper door. SOLUTION: The window opening and closing device 1 includes a window frame 2, the sliding paper door 4 for opening and closing the opening 3 defined by the window frame 2, a connecting mechanism 18 for rotatably connecting the position 31 of the sliding paper door 4 in the vertical direction V to the window frame 2, a connecting mechanism 19 for connecting the position 33 of the sliding paper door 4 in the vertical direction V to the window frame 2 so that the position 33 is movable in the front-back direction X, and an opening/closing operation mechanism 20 for operating the opening and closing of the opening 3 by the sliding paper door 4 through the connecting mechanism 19.
