PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a camera equipped with an automatic focusing device configured to, as a release button is full-depressed at one stroke, practically obtain a focused state and shorten a time till the start of exposure. SOLUTION: A single lens reflex camera includes a main mirror and a diaphragm mechanism for stopping down the diaphragm of a photographing lens, wherein the automatic focusing device is operated as the release button is half-depressed, and the exposure device is operated as the release button is full-depressed. The camera includes a control means. When the release button is full-depressed before finishing the operation of the automatic focusing device after the release-button is half-depressed, the control means is configured to, in the state where the lens driving means drives the lens, operate the exposure device when finishing the drive of the lens driving means, finishing lifting up the main mirror and finishing stopping down the diaphragm of the photographing lens, meanwhile, in the state where the lens driving means does not drive, the control means operates the exposure device when finishing lifting up the main mirror and finishing stopping down the diaphragm of the photographing lens.
