PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system in which a user more easily searches a target position. SOLUTION: When the user operates a character key of a soft keyboard 512 to input characters "makuha" in Japanese characters, an input character string is changed to "makuha", and a list of spot names registered in a spot record in which a coordinate of an area to be searched is registered, in the spot record in which a spot name reading having "makuha" set as a forward character string of the spot name reading is registered is displayed in a predicted conversion candidate window 514 as a predicted conversion spot name candidate list (b). Then, when the user selects "makuhari kaihin kouen" in Chinese characters from the predicted conversion spot name candidate list of the predicted conversion candidate window 514, the input character string is changed to the spot name reading "kaihin makuhari kouen" in Japanese characters registered in the spot record in which the selected "makuhari kaihin kouen" in Chinese characters is registered as the spot name (c).
