PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an appropriate reference image for obtaining information on dust deposited on an optical member of an imaging means in an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus starts live-view video display on a monitor screen (S301) and enters a dust information acquisition mode (S303) upon receipt of a reference image capturing request (S302). When a release button is pressed by a user (S304), the imaging apparatus performs control to drive a variable optical system unit (S305) and captures an image with blur added thereto, to produce image data (S306).
