<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamond coat for a cutting tool which is excellent in adhesion to a sintered hard alloy base material, has high hardness and a sufficient abrasion resistance to a nonferrous material of high hardness to be cut, is extremely excellent in practicability and can greatly extend the life of the cutting tool. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The diamond coat for the cutting tool formed on a base includes at least one layer of a multi-coat layer in which one or more first coat layers with an average crystal grain size of 0.3 μm or larger and 3 μm or smaller and one or more second coat layers with an average crystal grain size larger than that of the first coat layer are alternately laminated.
