<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a liquid-cooled jacket, by which the deformation of a sealing body is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the liquid-cooled jacket which is composed by fixing, by friction stir welding, the sealing body 30 for sealing an opening part 12 in a recessed part 11 to the jacket body 10 in which heat transporting fluid for transporting the heat generated by a heat generating body to the outside flows and which has a recessed part the part of which is opened, the sealing body 30 is placed on a supporting surface 15a composed of a stepped bottom surface which is formed in the peripheral part 12a of the opening part of the recessed part 11 of the jacket body 10 and lowered from the surface of the jacket body 10, the stepped side face 15b of the jacket body 10 and the outer peripheral surface 30b of the sealing body 30 are butted to each other and, by forming a plasticized region 41 by making a rotating tool 50 provided with a stirring pin 52 which has a length dimension L1 larger than the thickness dimension T1 of the sealing body 30 go around along the butted part 40 of the stepped side face 15b of the jacket body 10 and the outer peripheral surface 30a of the sealing body 30, the sealing body is joined to the jacket body 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
