PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a three-dimensional (3D) image in which crosstalk is further reduced.

SOLUTION: An adjustment amount setting section 13 sets an adjustment amount of parallax and supplies it to a differential arithmetic operating section 14 as adjustment amount information. The differential arithmetic operating section 14 uses the predetermined adjustment amount specified with the adjustment amount information to arithmetically operate a differential of luminance values between corresponding pixels of a left-eye two-dimensional (2D) image and a right-eye 2D image. A total sum arithmetic operating section 15 uses the differential of the luminance values between the pixels, supplied from the differential arithmetic operating section 14, in the predetermined adjustment amount to arithmetically operate a total sum for all the pixels for the differential of the luminance values. An optimal adjustment amount determining section 17 determines an adjustment amount of the least total sum of luminance differentials from among combinations of a plurality of adjustment amounts and total sums of luminance differentials to determine an optimal adjustment amount. The present invention may be applicable to e.g., an image processing apparatus for processing 3D image data.
