<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication device having high durability to any unauthorized method without the need of providing any additional device. <P>SOLUTION: A fingerprint information database in which fingerprint information of each finger of a person to be authenticated and arbitrary characters set by the person to be authenticated himself or herself are combined and stored so as to be associated with the fingerprint information, is constructed. When authentication is carried out, whether the person to be authenticated is a valid user is verified on the basis of the fingerprint of any one finger of the person to be authenticated, and a character string obtained by arbitrarily selecting a plurality of characters from among arbitrary characters set in the fingerprint information database is presented, and the person to be authenticated is urged to input the fingerprint corresponding to this, and the success/failure of authentication is determined by verifying the combination of the read fingerprint data and the presented character string with the fingerprint information database. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
