PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal air battery capable of suppressing deterioration of battery performance due to mixing of moisture inside the battery when air is taken in from the outside, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The metal air battery has a positive electrode, an electrolyte layer, and a negative electrode in this order. The positive electrode has a hydrophilic region which contains a positive electrode material and a hydrophilic binder to hold the positive electrode material, and a hydrophobic region which contains the positive electrode material and a hydrophobic binder to hold the positive electrode material, and the hydrophobic region is installed between the hydrophilic region and the electrolyte layer.
