PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a respiration measuring method and a respiration measuring device allowing a user to securely monitor the respiration state of a patient without contact and noninvasively and without giving a sense of pressure to the patient. SOLUTION: The method for measuring the respiration of the patient includes: a photography step (S01) for capturing a far-infrared image of the face of the patient; a signal processing step (S02) for extracting relative temperature information at least in the vicinity of the nose of the patient from image signals obtained in the photography step (S01) and deriving respiration information from the temperature information; and a display step (S03) for displaying the respiration information.
