PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling-wave pump, and a traveling-wave carrying device for powder, granular bodies, liquid, and the like which can be driven by small power by the use of resonance phenomenon, a traveling-wave generating method in the traveling-wave pump and the traveling-wave carrying device, and provide a device also can be used as a propulsion device when the object to be carried is liquid. SOLUTION: Two elastic plates which are supported under the boundary condition where the characteristic vibration mode of the bending vibration becomes a sine wave state are opposed to each other to provide a space between the two elastic plates. One end of the opposed surface has the inlet and the other end has the outlet. Except for the inlet and the outlet, the end surfaces of the two elastic plates are sealed. Oscillators for oscillating the elastic plates are disposed to the outside of both elastic plates, and the oscillators include oscillation devices, wherein the oscillation device is provided with an amplitude adjuster and phase adjustor for the oscillation force.
