<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect an external capacitor for LPF without providing a dedicated terminal. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An oscillator 1 includes a data terminal 10, a storage circuit 20 storing data DA, a chip select terminal 30, a capacitor C1 connected to the data terminal 10, a piezoelectric vibrator 40, an oscillation circuit 50 which controls an oscillation frequency at which the piezoelectric vibrator 40 oscillates with a temperature-compensated voltage VC, a temperature compensation control circuit 60 which generates the temperature-compensated voltage, and a switch circuit 100. The switch circuit 100 performs a switching operation to connect the temperature compensation control circuit 60 and the oscillation circuit 50 and also connect the data terminal DA and the storage circuit 20 when a predetermined bit value of the data DA input from the data terminal is set to a first value, and to connect the temperature compensation control circuit 60 and the oscillation circuit 50 through a resistance element R1 and also connect the data terminal DA and the oscillation circuit 50 when the predetermined bit value of the data DA input from the data terminal is set to a second value.
