PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for electrostatic charge image development, achieving both cleaning properties and a long lifetime of a photoreceptor, that is, preventing generation of various image defects, showing low fog and high image density and significantly reducing a depletion amount in the film thickness of the photoreceptor; and to provide an image forming method using the toner. SOLUTION: The toner for electrostatic charge image development to be used for an image forming method by a belt transfer system is characterized in that: the volume median diameter (D50) of the toner particles in the toner for electrostatic charge image development ranges from 4.0 to 9.0μm; the content ratio (volume basis) of toner particles having particle diameters of D50×2/3μm or smaller in the toner particles is not more than 10%; and the toner particles contain a fatty acid metal salt.
