Fig. 4 shows another embodiment incorporating a leg rest which is under the control of a control link. As shown, the back rest 226 is pivoted to the seat 222 at 224. A downward extension 229 of the back rest 226 is pivoted at 230 to a lower connecting link 228 itself pivoted at 232 to the support 220 at 232 and to the front connecting link 238 at 236, the front connecting link being pivoted at 240 to the seat. A guiding link 242 is pivoted to the support 220 at 244 and to the back rest at 223. The guiding link 242 forms part of a bell crank 268, the lower arm 280 of which forms a controlling element for the leg rest. The arm 280 is pivoted at 278 to a controlling link 276 pivoted at 274 to the leg rest 270 which is also pivoted to the seat 222 at 272. A stop 246 is provided to act as an abutment for the sitting position and an adjustable stop 250 for the reclining position. Instead of being a link the guiding means may comprise a slot formed in a part of the stationary frame engaged by a pin or projection provided on the seat or back rest.
