<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical secondary battery capable of preventing stress concentration at a bent portion of an electrode tab. <P>SOLUTION: The cylindrical secondary battery is provided with a can 120 with an opening, an electrode assembly 110 housed in the can, a cap assembly 170 covering the opening of the can, an upper insulation plate 140 located between the cap assembly and the electrode assembly, and a supporting plate 142 located on the upper insulation plate. The supporting plate includes a circumferential edge; a region of the supporting plate is smaller than that of the upper insulation plate; a first electrode tab 117 extends from the electrode assembly; the first electrode tab has a first portion 117a contacting with the supporting plate, a second portion 117c contacting with the cap assembly, and a bent portion 117b between the first portion and the second portion.
