PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preceding handrail which is installable on a framework scaffold and does not cause problem even if used as a master rope after the installation. SOLUTION: This preceding handrail includes handrail frames 10 each formed integrally of a pair of right and left vertical members 11 and a handrail for joining the upper ends of the right and left vertical members 11. The handrail frame 10 is joined to adjacent right and left erected frames 1 with a locking device 20 to be disconnected from each other. The preceding handrail is separably connected with fixing devices 30 and connecting devices 40. The locking device 20 has a hook part 21 which extends from the base end thereof welded to the vertical member 11 and is engaged with the lateral rod 3 of the erected frame 1 from above. The fixing device 30 has a holding part 31 which extends from the base end thereof welded to the vertical member 11, is positioned adjacent to the pier stud 2 of the erected frame 1 from the side, and holds the pier stud 2 in a wedge structure. The connecting device 40 has a joining part 42 which extends from the base end 41 thereof held by the vertical member 11, is joined to the pier stud 2 of a newly connected upper erected frame 1 from the side, and is joined to the pier stud 2 in a fixed structure.
