<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of removing sludge during cleaning an oil tank using a common oil, for the purpose of reducing the amount of oil-containing sludge to be transferred to a recovery tank. <P>SOLUTION: This method of removing sludge during cleaning the oil tank using the common oil is characterized in that it involves the following two processes : That is, in a method of cleaning the oil tank by the common oil through circulating the common oil, an oil filtering process supplies the common oil from an oil feed opening of a screw-type sludge recovery strainer arranged halfway through an oil transfer pipe which transfers the common oil discharged from the oil tank to the recovery tank. Then, the process filters the common oil and discharges the oil after filtration, from an oil discharge opening. Further, the process discharges an oil-containing sludge of an internal cylinder from the oil-containing sludge discharge opening.
